There is no limit on this in the software. You can add as many photos as you like.
Nevertheless, consider the effect this will have on the viewer. Less is often more. A smaller number of large photos often looks better than several small photos.
Tip: use larger photos, and consider adding an extra page or two. This way your photos will still look good on their own in years to come.
You can choose your paper type using the product feature "Paper type".
Open up the "Product features" dialogue (bottom right in the software or the icon on the toolbar) and you can choose an available paper type from the selection menu.
The photobook is available in various finishes and with various paper types and surfaces. However, not all paper types and surfaces are available in all formats.
You can choose from:
Choose from the various categories and pick the format of your choice.
You can save your photobook in the following ways: In the toolbar, click on the button "Save". With this icon, you can save your product at any stage in the editing process. First save this product, then a dialogue box will open up in which you can specify where you want to save it and the files names.
Or "Save as". Like "Save", but you can give the product a different file name or select a different directory, for example to create a copy of your product, or to archive different versions or stages in the editing process.
You can easily change your photobook size once you have started creating it, however you can only choose a different format for the book within your chosen orientation, i.e.: a photo book in portrait format can only be changed to a different portrait format, a square photo book can only be changed to a different square format and a landscape format can only be changed to a different landscape format.
You can change the format of your photobook as follows:
Open up the "Product features" dialogue in the program (bottom right in the software or the icon on the toolbar). A selection window will open up with the available formats. You can also change the paper type and cover.
All our books are available with hardback covers, and some are available with paperback covers. To change the cover type, open up the "Product features" dialogue in the program (bottom right in the software or the icon on the toolbar). A selection window will open up with the available formats. You can also change the paper type and size.
However, be aware that already customised cover pages and maybe even the maximum number of pages may also change - please make a note of the warnings and check your book carefully before placing your order.
The header bar of the software contains the button "Open". Here you can open projects that you have already started and continue to edit them. Your most recently modified projects will be listed immediately, so you can open them with one click.
Yes: you can find the commands for saving a project ("Save" and "Save as") in the editor on the far left of the toolbar.
You can open saved projects in the header bar of the software under the button "Open". Here you can open projects that you have already started and continue to edit them. Your most recently modified projects will be listed immediately, so you can open them with one click.
After you have finished customising a photobook, place it in the basket. Then click on the "Order" button (directly below the workspace). In the basket you will find all the information about the photobook you have created.
Now you can choose the order quantity and order method. You can also click the "Add products" button. You can find these in the basket in the bottom left-hand corner.
Now you can customise and create additional products and place them in the basket.
Below the workspace you will find a zoom control which you can use to zoom in or out of the page.
You can also switch from page view to full screen view by clicking on the "Show preview" button. This function is just below the workspace on the right-hand side next to the zoom control. It provides a full-screen preview of the product page.
In the preview, there is a button in the same place with which you can close the preview.
There are two ways to create a photobook. Automatic creation using the Assistant or manual editing.
Please also see the answers to the following questions: "How do I create a photobook without using the Assistant?" and "How do I create a photobook using the Assistant?"
The Bob Assistant is an application that helps the user create a photo book quickly and automatically.
In the first step of the Bob Assistant, you must select the photos you would like to include in your photo book.
On the left-hand side of the Assistant, you can select the photos or entire photo directories for the Assistant and drag these into the centre area "Photos in the photo book". You can remove individual photos or add additional photos to your selection at a later stage.
Manually adding photos in the workspace using the traditional means of photo selection gives you the best possible control over the selection of your photos.
Using the directory browser in the selection area, open up the directory containing your photos. Highlight the preview image of the desired photo in the selection area and drag it into the workspace holding the left-hand mouse button down.
The dropdown menu (right mouse click on the photo preview in the photo explorer) contains various sorting options, including alphabetical (by name) and chronological (by date created). If you select "Sort by colour", then the photos from the current directory will be displayed in a separate program window in groups ordered by colour mood. Click on the "Use selected photo" button and the selected photo will be transferred to the active placeholder.
Photos that are already being used in the product will be indicated by means of a tick on the preview image in the selection area. You can drag a photo into the workspace several times, e.g. if you want to expose it in a different size, or you want to edit the same photo using different functions in the Photo Editor.
You also have a variety of assistants available to use.
For more details refer to the chapters covering the respective assistants.
Note: If you would like to use the pre-installed page layouts, I recommend that in the "Settings" ("Settings" chapter), you set the editor so that the photo is adjusted to fit the placeholder. This is the "Maintain frame size, crop and centre the photo" setting. On the other hand: |
Photos that have already been added to the photobook have a green tick in the selection area.
I can order my photos in the selection area on the left. To do so, right-click on a photo.
A window will open up and here you have three sorting options:
In the photo:
If the resolution is too low, a warning will appear within the photo.
Please drag the photo into a smaller layout frame, or reduce the layout frame or the photo within the layout frame (if it is an enlarged image detail), or choose a different photo with a higher resolution. Please observe the quality indicator.
In the text box:
The text no longer fits entirely in the text box. Use less text or a smaller font, or enlarge the text box (drag further).
The software gives you an optimum overview to enable you to assess the quality status of your photos. If a photo is transferred, the coloured circles will indicate whether the image resolution is optimal for the selected product.
A green indicator means:
The photo resolution is high enough to achieve a good quality result.
There will therefore not be any loss of quality with the photo at this size.
A yellow indicator means:
The photo resolution is not optimal to achieve a good quality result.
This means you should either expect some loss of quality with the photo at this size, or reduce the photo.
A red indicator means:
The resolution is too low to achieve a good quality result. (This is also indicated by a "Warning!" icon in the photo itself.)
You should not use the photo at this size, as it will be of significantly reduced visual quality.
You should therefore either reduce the photo or use a different photo of higher resolution.

You can rotate elements in the workspace within the photobook software (placeholders, photos, text boxes, clipart), either in 90° steps using the corresponding buttons or menu commands, or freely by clicking and dragging the rotation handle of a frame. |
Left-click on the desired image field. The corner and side handles are now visible outside the image field.

Yes. If you hold down the mouse button and drag a photo on a photo book page into a different placeholder, the contents of the two placeholders will be swapped.
You can create an image detail by combining the size of the layout frame, the zoom factor ("Reduce Image" / "Enlarge Image") of the added photo and the position of the photo within the placeholder. Check the quality indicator in the toolbar (smiley icon).
Here is an example of the procedure:
Add the original photo |
Reduce the placeholder |
Move the picture motif to the centre |
|
|
|
Zoom in |
Move the picture motif into the centre again |
Reduce the frame again slightly |
|
|
|
Now the person fills the picture nicely.
The placeholder does not necessarily need to be reduced. Here is an example of how the same photo can look if you zoom and pan (the layout frame has not been changed):

Simply zoom and pan the result.
The placeholder can overlap and cover each other partially.
You can control the order in which the frames lie on top of each other, i.e. which frame is in the foreground and which is in the background of the page layout, by using the commands "Move object one level forward" and "Move object one level back" (as icons in the toolbar).
Text frames are always in the foreground and can be moved around but never behind a photo.
Double-click on the photo of your choice in the photo book and this will open up the Photo Editor, which contains all the photo editing functions that are both useful and necessary for the photo book.
However, to take advantage of the full functionality of the Photo Editor, you will need to start the program independently.
You can find a comprehensive answer to this question in the chapter entitled "Workflow - working with videos".
First, please make sure you have saved your photobook (using the "Save" symbol in the main toolbar).
If you want to re-order the book as it is, simply open the file and 'Add to Cart' as usual.
If you want to re-order the book in a different size, paper type or with a different cover, simply select your book options, choose your new options and save your book again before adding to basket. Please be aware that certain changes may alter you book layout slightly - please make sure you check your book before re-ordering.
